- I want to upgrade to a 28,800 modem. A modem I've been looking at has
- the following features:
-
-
- V.FC, V.32bis, V.42bis/MNP5
- bps data rate, 14,400 bps send/receive fax, Class 1 with 16C550 UART
- compatible interface
- Compatible with IBM AT/XT PC, PS/2 models 25 &
- 30, or IBM PC compatibles. (Also PS/1 with standard ISA slots)
- Plugs-in to PC's internal expansion slot Will work on Com ports 1, 2,
- 3 or 4 Windows data communications and fax software included on 3.5"
- diskette
- Data rates: 28800, 19200, 14400, 12200, 9600, 4800, 2400,
- 1200 and 300 bits per second (bps) to 1 data compression for
- theoretical effective data rates up to 115,200 bps error correction
-
- I used MSD and found that COM ports 1-3 have UART 16550AF. Will this
- modem work with my system? Also what does "16C550 UART compatible
- interface" mean? Does this mean that I would need to add a UART chip
- for or to the modem? Please email me directly if you can. Thanks.
